My Story
My journey into design began in my childhood, born in Vietnam after the war during a time of scarcity. With limited resources, I discovered an unexpected abundance in the scrap materials scattered throughout the city streets. Popular toys and games that were common in the U.S. were out of reach, so I relied on my creativity to build my own. Using materials like wood, metal, and whatever I could find, I taught myself the basics of craft, wood, and metal fabrication. Through this process of invention, I learned to make the most of what I had, using materials in unconventional ways to create functional, playful objects.
These early experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation for design, art, and photography. The necessity to create something out of little taught me not only how to think outside the box but also how to apply those principles of resourcefulness and innovation throughout my life. This foundation shaped my approach to design, where creativity, craftsmanship, and practicality always go hand in hand..
